So today was the day I handed in my Research project for my course. The research project is basically on a topic of our choosing, collecting out own data and analysing it. So of course i did mine on wolves. It was titled "Do wolves need adult wolf role models to learn how to be a wolf?". Basically i was looking at nature versus nurture and seeing in hand reared wolves showed behaviours commonly found in packs that were naturally reared by the pack. And suprise suprise my hypothesis was right. So piss on the you stupid wankers that hate the UKWCT. (which i dont think is any one who reads my journal)

Bit of a mad dash to get it in on time, i must learn not to put stuff off and leave it to the last minute. Procrastination bad!!

Wooooooop!!! Sorry i'm so happy this burden has finally been lifted, i've been working on it for almost 6months now.

I'm having one of those years

Everything seems to be going horribly wrong this year. Its only march and already:

1) Murphy my dog drowned
2) Kodiak the wolf died
3) I got a speeding ticket (which is never fun)
4) Some wanker hit my car
5) Completely broke, my card keeps getting declined
6) Massive falling out with my best friend

I would say things cant get worse, but they will. I want to hibernate untill 2010 starts, i dont think thats possible.

I cant even get excited about good things in my life that happen any more, only cuz everything keeps going wrong. I feel a pesamistic (or however you spell it) view on life will lead to less disappointment.

Oh dear, i sound like a right miserable old cow! lol!!

People need to get over themselves!!

This is a minor rant about some of the opinions and attitudes of some people on dA. You dont have to agree with me put i need to get it off my chest...

Will everyone lighten up!!! Art is ment to be fun!! Who really cares if people arent being original, and that every one is drawing wolves or 'sparkle dogs'??

So many people rant about how people arent origninal because every one draw canines, or big cats, or horses etc in balto, or lion king or whatever style. Or that people dont look at animal anatomy. And that every ones 'sparkle dog' is trying to out compete the last one with more colours and patterns and accessories.

Why does it matter??

I draw what i want because i enjoy it. Who cares if i'm original. Its not an originality contest. Whats wrong will taking insperation from other peoples art. Even then no two artists end up with the exact same style. Why draw something else if you wanna draw a wolf. Whats the point in trying to look up some abscure animals just to be different?!

People are so hypacritical. They either insult people for not being original or for going out of there way to be original. And then they themselves end up going out of their way to be original and then they end up exsactly like everyone else in the first place. Then rant about and have all their followers agree with them saying no ones original. Though clearly they dont have an independant thought in their head.

Art is ment to be FUN.... not an originality contenst.

Get of it and enjoy dA for what it should be.

(Yes I am aware that this rant about peoples rants does make me a hypocrite.... and should you agree with me i will not asume your a mindless twit who cant think for themselves)

Shaun Ellis- Wolfman or Nut job??

Just to warn every one, this is a rant of what a knob head Shaun Ellis is. Every time people ask me what I do and I reply that I work with Wolves people always start talking about Shaun Ellis and I have to grin and bear it.

Shaun Ellis is an idiot. To start with he says his wolves think hes a wolf. Um.... i dont think so. If a wolf can tell what sex you are from your scent and can pick up cancer in samples to dillute for a computer to detect I'm pretty sure they can tell that hes not a wolf. I think the fact that he doesnt wash gives it away. Yes Shaun Ellis doesnt wash, why, because wolves dont wash and they dont like the smell of soaps and deodrants!? Well I wash and use deodrant and i've never had a problem. The only time i've ever had a problem with the way I smell and the wolves is when its that time of the month.

I started reading his book wolf talk, just to see what it was like. I read like the first few chapters and found it so self indulgent that I had to stop reading. In it he talks about being in the supermarket and getting weird looks from people and being worried that its because he smells of wolf (but they were actually looking at him because hes the famous wolf man). Wolves do not smell. I know your thinking your dogs at home stink, but thats more to do with their diet, central heating and the shampoos we use on them. The reason Shaun Ellis smells is because he doesnt wash.

Another point which proves hes an idiot nut is he says hes the packs omega. Well hes clearly not. If you've watched any of his programs you can clearly see hes not. If you watched that show with Martin Clunes then you would of seen Shaun throw the wolves out of his and Martins way to get into the enclosure. If he was the omega and tried this the rest of the pack would of put him in his place.

The biggest problem with Shaun Ellis is that he makes good TV. Therefore if you mention wolves to the majourity of the public they will bring up Shaun Ellis and tell you how wonderful he is. Hes not. They only good thing about him is that hes getting people intrested in the animal, which as long as they do their own research and make their own opinions, is a good thing!

RIP Kodiak

Yesterday Kodiak, more commonly known as Kodie, was put to sleep at age 14.

If you dont know who Kodie is thats fair enough, I probably dont talk about him much. He was the Alpha male of the North American park at the UK Wolf Conservation trust. He was a very old boy, and a real grump like most old men but a real sweetie at the same time.

Kodie was a very special wolf, although he always growled at you through the fence you knew it was his way of saying hello, and he always loved his sausages. I'm gunna miss him alot and i still cant get the image of what was once a handsome, powerful wolf, being carried lifeless across the encloseur.

We are having a wake in his honour tomorrow, which will include cake and hotdogs(Kodies fav).

I think I'm in for a long painful career if i get this upset every time an animal dies of me.
